Rebecca Coley
Founder & Trustee
In 2003 Rebecca founded the Bukit Lawang Trust as an emergency aid station. In response to a disastrous flood that destroyed much of the community. Now almost 18 years on, she overseas the Trusts global growth strategy, manages donor and grant acquisition & is responsible for the Trusts vision and ethos.

Samuel Oakes
Director of Operations
As Director of Operations, Samuel is ultimately responsible for providing strategic leadership for the Bukit Lawang Trusts operations, in accordance with their overarching global strategy. He takes the lead on the design and development of new programs, partnerships and relationships as well as working to develop the Trusts Indonesia Country Strategy, whilst ensuring compliance with legal policy, processes and standards. Samuel has overall responsibility for the quality, impact and safe delivery of the Trusts portfolio in Indonesia as well as community selection and program design in identified communities.

Program Manager: Conservation
Cloé Dupont
As Program Manager for the Bukit Lawang Trusts Conservation Programs, Cloé is directly responsible for the delivery of a range of comprehensive environmental conservation & sustainable Human development programs and initiatives in communities throughout rural North Sumatra. Cloé is also responsible for volunteer management for all of our Conservation volunteers and taking a leading role in organizing the Sumatran Conservation Festival!

Program Manager: Education
Harry Gunn
As the Program Manager for the Bukit Lawang Trusts Education Programs, Harry is directly responsible for the delivery of a range of comprehensive education and sustainable development programs and initiatives in communities throughout rural North Sumatra. Harry is also responsible for volunteer management for all of our Education and ESL volunteers and taking a leading role in the management of our kindergarten, and the organization of our TK graduation!

Renita Pelawi
Program Coordinator: Education
As Program Coordinator for Education at the Bukit Lawang Trust, Reni works alongside our program manager to facilitate the delivery of a range of education programs and initiatives. Reni is responsible for assisting with needs assessments & community selection as well as beneficiary recruitment and Post Project Visits (PPVs). Additionally, as program coordinator Reni line manages our education volunteers and helps to train and guide them through their placements with us!

Rerimna Lea
Program Coordinator: Conservation
As Program Coordinator for Conservation at the Bukit Lawang Trust, Rerimna works alongside our Program Manager to facilitate the delivery of a range of conservation Programs and initiatives including the YSE and Youth Ranger programs. Rerimna is our local expert in conservation and works closely with our project partners on the ground to deliver outstanding and sustainable conservation and development initiatives. Additionally, as program coordinator Rerimna line manages our Conservation volunteers and helps to train and guide them through their placements with us!

Nicki Claydon
Transport & Logistics Coordinator
Nicki manages the transport and logistics for all of the Trusts operations on the ground here in North Sumatra, as TL Coordinator she ensures that everyone gets to where they need to be, when they need to be with the right equipment to do the job. Nicki literally makes it all happen!

Fitri Madewi
Hub Cook
Fitri is our longest serving team member, having been with the Bukit Lawang Trust for over 13 years! She has held a wide range of responsibilities during her tenure including cook, assistant teacher and even interim manager! She now works as our Hub Cook for the Trust community centre in Bukit Lawang.
As Hub Cook, Fitri is the heart and soul of our Hub in Bukit Lawang. She prepares outstanding Indonesian cuisine for all of our staff and volunteers every day!

Butet Halimah
Kindergarten Teacher
Butet has been working as a Kindergarten Teacher for the Bukit Lawang Trust for the past 8 years. She works with Dea in our Lions Class and also delivers weekly fitness classes for all of the Kindergarten Students and Parents to take part!
Butet is responsible for delivering the Indonesian 'Saya Suka Membaca' kindergarten curriculum to our Lions class alongside our three other Kindergarten Teachers. She is also responsible for assisting in the delivery of the Education Program alongside education volunteers.

'Ida' Apridayani
Kindergarten Teacher
Ida has been working as a Kindergarten teacher for the Bukit Lawang Trust for the past 8 years. She works with our Roses Class and also delivers craft and circus sessions for the Kindergarten students.
Ida is responsible for supporting the other kindergarten teachers in the delivery of the Indonesian 'Saya Suka Membaca' kindergarten curriculum. She is also responsible for preparing our 'Roses Class' students for starting the Indonesian curriculum through the delivery of a 'learning through play' pedagogy and running crafts and activity sessions alongside our other 'Roses Class' teacher Rasimah.

Dea Ananda
Kindergarten Teacher
Dea studied in medical school as well as learning German in her spare time before shifting over to working in the field of education. Dea is gaining valuable work experience as one of the Trusts Kindergarten Teachers in preparation for Higher education and University.
As a Kindergarten teacher in the Trusts 'Lions Class' Dea is responsible for supporting the other staff in the delivery of the Indonesian 'Saya Suka Membaca' kindergarten curriculum. She is also responsible for preparing our students for primary education.

Rasimah
Kindergarten Teacher
The vast majority of Rasimah's work experience has been based around delivering education to children of all ages. Rasimah has also worked to adapt educational curriculum through the implementation of conservation attitudes and the ideals of equality and independence into pre primary education.
Rasimah is responsible for supporting the other kindergarten teachers in the delivery of the Indonesian 'Saya Suka Membaca' curriculum. She is also responsible for preparing our 'Roses Class' students for starting the Indonesian curriculum with 'Roses Class' through the delivery of a 'Learning through play' pedagogy and running crafts and activity sessions alongside our other 'Roses Class' teacher Ida.

Wati
Hub Caretaker
Wati is one of our most senior staff members, having been part of our staff team for over 10 years. Wati looks after the school building and the grounds as well as looking after all of us!
Wati is responsible for cleaning and site maintenance, She also assists with cooking and preparing class materials and events for the Bukit Lawang Trust.
