Nias 2008
In January 2008 Trustees visited Nias to review the water situation. The people in the villages of Hillisalo’o and Hillifatima were still in need of a fresh water supply. They walk a kilometer every day to collect water from a well in plastic containers. When there is no rain, the well dries up. However this problem could easily be solved by using a natural spring in the mountain, drilling down, and pumping the fresh clean water to the village. A project the Trust hopes to complete this year.
